Gov. Ivey awards grant to help provide new jobs in DeKalb County

MONTGOMERY— A $130,000 grant awarded by Gov. Kay Ivey will help DeKalb County gain a new foothold on the textile industry and create 15 new jobs.

The town of Sylvania will use the Community Development Block Grant to assist the expansion of Alabama Wholesale Socks Inc.

Student graduates high school and college within same month

Fort Payne High School senior Mark McGullion will be graduating this May from high school, as well as from Northeast Alabama Community College through the college’s dual enrollment program.

“Dual enrollment is an extremely beneficial program that gives high school students a head start on college and their careers,” said NACC President David Campbell. “The college recognizes the positive impact of this program and continues to expand and support dual enrollment with our area high schools.”

I-59 Fort Payne Industrial Park Receives AdvantageSite Designation

 BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 18 – The I-59 Fort Payne Industrial Park in DeKalb County has received the Alabama AdvantageSite designation. 

The AdvantageSite program requires that community economic development organizations provide documentation specific to a proposed industrial site, including a set of standard data related to ownership/control, environmental and geotechnical conditions, and infrastructure status. Sites must also meet size, zoning and accessibility requirements.   

The 39-acre industrial park is located within the Fort Payne city limits and has access to Interstate 59 via Jordan Road and Alabama 35. All utilities are at the site. The park also is located in a New Market Tax Credit area of the state.
